    What is A Plumbing Emergency?

Almost every modern-day house has plumbing facilities that help to run water to the house and run waste away from the house. These conveniences make living a home a great experience and are a part of almost everyone’s everyday life. With frequent use and the age of the systems, these plumbing facilities can be worn down or encounter some outside forces that causes them to work incorrectly. Plumbing features that are not in proper working order can, in fact, cause damage to your home as water or sewage is not being able to be filtered out. These situations can be caused by a number of different circumstances, and some of them constitute plumbing emergencies. If you are experiencing a plumbing emergency, be sure to contact Idaho Falls plumbing to ensure that your home is in the best capable hands if you are to run into such issues.

    Extensive Water Leak

Plumbing emergencies mostly signify when something has malfunctioned in your plumbing system that is going to cause a significant amount of damage to your home. This damage can occur in your pipes, your walls, your flooring, or in your house in general, and can be tricky to repair. If you have an extensive water leak, it could be due to a pipe that had been frozen or a smaller leak that has escalated to something bigger. An extensive water leak due to any of these reasons should warrant a call to your plumber right away, as you will want to get this taken care of sooner rather than later. This water leak could have signs such as:

    • Discolored water
    • Gurgling or bubbling sounds
    • Change in water pressure
    • High water bill payments
    • Mold issues

    Overflowing Backed-Up Drain

Under normal circumstances, a clogged drain is not necessarily considered an emergency. A backed up drain can become an emergency if it is left alone and causes other parts of your plumbing systems to become backed-up. A way you can easily tell if your clogged drain has now become an emergency is by checking on your sinks and your toilets. If these blockages become so severe, they can start to back-up and flood your toilets and your sinks back into your house. This can be a dangerous, hazardous, and messy situation in which you will want to get ahold of your plumber right away.

    Frozen Pipes

A common plumbing emergency in the winter is dealing with frozen pipes. While frozen pipes may be inconvenient when you are needing water to come to your skinks, showers, and toilets, these become particularly dangerous because of their likelihood to burst. Oftentimes with frozen pipes, they will burst and cause a massive leak that leads to damaging your house as well as damaging the piping in your walls. Do what you can to keep your home warm during the winter to avoid your pipes freezing. Plumbing emergencies can be scary but knowing what you can expect will help you to identify these issues faster so that you can get them taken care of before they are able to cause any more damage to your home.
